79THE CHEMICAL CONTENTS AND PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF ANAGALLIS ARVENSIS - A REVIEWAnagallis arvensis is one of the plants which used medicinally for many purposes. The seeds of Anagallis arvensis contained flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, glycosides, alkaloids and anthrequinones. The aerial parts of the plant contained alkaloids, bitter cucurbitacin glycosides, arvenin, I and II and cucurnitacin, B, D, E, I and L, sterols, ß-amyrin, rutin, n-hexacosane, lacceric acid, triterpene sanagalligenone, anagalligenin, carbohydrates and enzymes. Anagallis arvensis exerted many pharmacological effects including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, behavioral, antioxidant, cytotoxic, molluscicidal, taenicidal, expectorant, oestrogenic and other pharmacological effects.
