60CAN INSTITUTIONAL HUMAN ETHICS COMMITTEE DATA BASE BE MADE ACCESSIBLE FOR RESEARCHIHEC (Institutional Human Ethics Committee) reviews research proposals to protect safety and wellbeing of study participants. IHEC activities are highly confidential. Hence access to IHEC documents is restricted. However dissemination of data on IHEC activities and documents will facilitate conduction of the Research in an ethical manner and improve the functioning of IHECs. So this study was proposed to find out the view of Researchers and IHEC members on accessibility of IHEC data for research. After getting IHEC approval, self validated study Questionnaire was given to IHEC members, and researchers. Before administering questionnaire informed consent was obtained. Total of 78 members were included in the study out of which 25.6% were IHEC members and 74.4% were non-IHEC members. The data points out 46.8% were of the view that IHEC database can be accessed by both IHEC and Non IHEC members. An equal proportion of the participants (47.8%) were of the notion that only IHEC members should have access to IHEC database. Though half of the participants suggested that IHEC database can be accessed for research by Non-IHEC members, in order to maintain confidentiality only anonymised data should be made accessible to non-IHEC members after obtaining signature in the confidentiality statement.
