The crude ethyl acetate extract was partitioned using a solvent system (n-hexane, chloroform and methanol) by increasing their polarities. The compounds were fractioned and isolated from n-hexane and chloroform partitions using column chromatography and preparative thin layer chromatography technique. The structures of isolated compounds were established by Infra Red, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectroscopic studies. The n-hexane and chloroform fractions yielded four compounds namely Lupeolpalmitate (FT-01), β Amyrin acetate (FT-02), β- sitosterol (FT-03) and β-stigmasterol (FT-04). The results indicate that the stem extract of Ficus tinctoria may provide a rich source of triterpenoids and flavanoids.
<Email>ushasri06@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>7</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2017</year><keyword>Ficus tinctoria, ethyl acetate, phytochemical investigation, Infra Red, 1H NMR, 13C NMR</keyword><AUTHORS>T.
